A Knight is the first knightly unit to be trained at the castle. It is stronger, but also more expensive than troopers. The Knight can be upgraded to the Royal Knight. The Swiss (who have no proper nobility), the Genoese (who have the Condotierri), and the Poles (who have the Szlachta) do not receive this unit.

Strategy[]

Though being the most expensive of all early units, the Knight is also the strongest cavalry unit available in the 13th century. If you can afford them, they are a devastating raiding unit that only fears well-formed pike defences. French, Guelders and Burgundian knights can be particulary devestating with their additional durability, and the French, with a lower cost while retaining a higher HP level than the average, combine floodability with durability to produce a truly frightening swarm of cavalry.
