Mongol Auxiliary

The Mongol Auxiliary is the upgrade of the Cuman Auxiliary. Mongols are stronger, better armoured, slightly faster and shoot more accurate than the Cumans. Each extra arrow they are firing after the first one deals 3 points of damage.

Commentary/Strategy[]

If this unit can be massed, it makes up a terribly fast host of cavalry archers that can let whole bunches of arrows rain on their enemies. Their great speed makes them the best unit for hit'n'run tactics, even against cavalry.

The Mongol Auxiliary is said to be among the most powerful units, however, also among the most expensive. Their main weakness might be their range, which makes them vulnerable to Longbowmen, Skirmishers and even Crossbowmen, if they do not close in on them. As noted on the Cuman page, they are enabled by Hausmacht, meaning old-timers who like having priests with full functionality aren't likely to have them.

Historical Background[]

While the Mongols were a threat to Eastern Europe, they could also provide European leaders with highly skilled cavalry archer mercenaries.

Trivia[]

Based on the Chinese Elite Chu Ko Nu, the Mongol Auxiliary used to be available to Bavaria until version 1.6.
