Francisation is a policy decision that allows Brittany to form closer relations with the French crown. These relations stimulate the trade with foreign countries and make it easier to hire Mercenaries. Furthermore Breton knights are now able to learn better martial skills at the French courts.

The policy decision reduces the trading fee to 10%, gives +2 attack to knightly cavalry, and allows Brittany to hire Genoese Crossbowmen.

With the support of the crown of France, Charles and his wife Joanna, heiress and niece of the Duke of Brittany, fought the House of Montfort in the Breton War of Succession (1341-1364). The Montforts eventually won, but both Jean de Montfort and Charles de Blois were killed during the war.
