Peasants provide the backbone of your army. They gather resources, build and repair buildings, and can fight in a pinch (not recommdended). They also provide additional defensive firepower for Castles, Guild Halls, Town Halls, and towers. A solid economic force is the key to winning any game in the Age of Empires series, including Age of Chivalry: Hegemony. As combat units, peasants are very weak, although they can hold their own in the earlier part of the game. They also carry an attack bonus vs. buildings, especially those made of stone (if they can get close enough). However, the English unique technology, Folktales, provides additional attack, HP, and armor.
Unique to all units in the game, peasants come in both male and female types. The unit's gender is randomly determined during production.
